GSM Big Gizz 2 3/16 oz Citrus Shad: High-Visibility Gizzard Shad Swimbait
The GSM Big Gizz 2 3/16 oz Citrus Shad (BLF-GS2316-696) is a premium weighted swimbait designed to closely imitate a gizzard shad with a bright, high-visibility color pattern. Weighing 3/16 of an ounce, this lure offers the perfect balance of casting distance and realistic swimming action. The Citrus Shad color combines vibrant chartreuse and citrus tones with realistic shad details, creating excellent contrast and visibility in stained, murky, or low-light water conditions where bass rely more on sight and vibration to locate prey.
GSM Outdoors developed the Big Gizz 2 series to give anglers a versatile and productive swimbait option. The Citrus Shad color is one of the most effective patterns for dirty water, overcast days, and early morning or late evening fishing. Its weighted design allows for excellent casting while the soft plastic body produces a lifelike tail kick that mimics a real shad swimming through the water column.

Why Anglers Choose the GSM Big Gizz 2 Citrus Shad
The GSM Big Gizz 2 3/16 oz Citrus Shad is a go-to swimbait for bass anglers fishing in stained or murky water. While many natural-colored swimbaits lose effectiveness in dirty water, the bright Citrus Shad pattern provides the visibility bass need to locate the lure. This makes it especially effective during spring runoff, after heavy rains, or on overcast days when light penetration is limited. The 3/16 oz size is versatile enough to be fished in multiple ways. Anglers commonly rig the Big Gizz 2 on a jig head for a steady retrieve or use it as a trailer on a swim jig or spinnerbait. It can also be fished weightless or with a light split shot for a slower presentation. The combination of high visibility and natural swimming action makes this lure highly effective for both largemouth and smallmouth bass in a variety of conditions.
Additional benefits include:
- Excellent visibility in stained and murky water
- Strong contrast for low-light conditions
- Versatile 3/16 oz weight for multiple techniques
- Realistic gizzard shad swimming action
- Durable soft plastic that resists tearing
- Great for largemouth and smallmouth bass
- Effective year-round in various water clarities

Ideal Applications for the GSM Big Gizz 2 Citrus Shad
The GSM Big Gizz 2 3/16 oz Citrus Shad is a versatile swimbait that performs exceptionally well in stained or murky water. It is most effective when bass are feeding on gizzard shad but water clarity is limited. The bright Citrus Shad color provides the visibility needed for bass to locate the lure, while the realistic swimming action triggers strikes. This lure is commonly fished on a jig head around grass lines, points, rocky banks, and main lake structure. It also works well as a trailer on a swim jig or spinnerbait. The 3/16 oz size is large enough to attract quality bass while remaining easy to cast and fish throughout the day. The Citrus Shad color is particularly productive during the spring and fall, as well as during periods of high water or after rainfall when water clarity decreases.
This lure is especially popular among swimbait anglers, tournament bass fishermen, and anyone looking for a high-visibility gizzard shad imitation that performs well in stained water and low-light conditions.
