Key Features of the Okuma Celilo Crappie CE-S-661MLB

Why Choose the Okuma Celilo Crappie 6'6" Medium Light Spinning Rod?

The Okuma Celilo Crappie series was developed to meet the specific needs of today’s crappie anglers. The CE-S-661MLB model features medium light power, giving it more lifting strength and backbone than the standard light power version. This makes it an outstanding choice when fishing around heavy cover, deeper water, or when using slightly heavier jigs and larger soft plastic trailers. The 6'6" length provides excellent casting distance and leverage when fighting bigger crappie or pulling fish away from brush and timber.

Despite its added power, the CE-S-661MLB still maintains the sensitivity required to feel subtle strikes. The one-piece graphite blank enhances feel and strength, while the moderate-fast action allows the rod to load easily for accurate casts with small to medium-sized crappie lures. This rod is particularly effective for vertical jigging, spider rigging, and casting techniques where a little extra power is beneficial.

Best Uses for the Okuma Celilo Crappie CE-S-661MLB

• Vertical Jigging: Stronger backbone for fishing heavy brush piles and deep water
• Spider Rigging: Excellent length and power for multi-rod setups
• Cast & Retrieve: Ideal for casting 1/16 oz to 3/16 oz jigs and soft plastics
• Heavy Cover Fishing: Better ability to pull crappie out of thick brush and timber
• Live Bait Fishing: Handles larger minnows and slip bobber rigs with ease
• Big Crappie: Extra power to control larger slab crappie
• Panfish: Also effective for larger bluegill and redear sunfish

Performance and Design Advantages

The Okuma Celilo Crappie CE-S-661MLB offers several performance advantages over lighter power rods. The medium light power rating provides increased strength in the lower half of the rod, allowing anglers to apply more pressure when fighting fish near cover. The one-piece construction delivers superior sensitivity and strength compared to multi-piece rods. The moderate-fast action gives the rod a responsive tip for casting accuracy while still offering plenty of power in the butt section. Stainless steel guides help reduce weight and improve casting performance, while the comfortable handle design ensures all-day fishing comfort. This rod is specifically tuned for crappie fishing situations that require a little more power than a standard light rod can provide.

Who Should Buy the Okuma Celilo Crappie CE-S-661MLB?
