Premium 12 Gauge Dove Hunting Ammunition
Rio Dove Loads are formulated to meet the demands of high-volume dove hunting. The 1-1/8 ounce payload of #8 shot provides an increased pellet count compared to lighter 1 oz loads, resulting in denser patterns at typical dove hunting ranges. With a velocity of 1200 fps, these shells offer a smooth-shooting experience with reduced recoil while still maintaining the speed needed for fast-moving targets. This combination makes the Rio RDL328 an outstanding choice for hunters who want maximum pattern density without excessive kick.

Why Choose Rio Dove Load 1-1/8 oz #8 Shotshells?
Rio Ammunition has earned a strong reputation for producing high-quality, affordable shotshells that perform reliably in the field. The Dove Load series is specifically formulated for the demands of dove hunting, where fast-flying birds and high shot volumes are common. The heavier 1-1/8 ounce payload of #8 shot provides more pellets per shell than standard 1 oz loads, resulting in denser patterns and a higher probability of multiple pellet strikes. This makes the RDL328 particularly effective when doves are flying at longer ranges or when maximum pattern coverage is desired. The 1200 fps velocity offers a comfortable shooting experience while still delivering the performance needed for successful hunts.
Ideal Applications
The Rio Dove Load 12ga 1-1/8 oz #8 shotshells are primarily designed for mourning dove hunting but also perform exceptionally well on other small upland game such as quail, snipe, and woodcock. The combination of a heavy payload and #8 shot size makes these loads very effective at typical dove hunting distances of 20 to 45 yards. These shells perform well in semi-automatic, pump-action, and double-barrel shotguns. Whether hunting over a dove field with multiple hunters or walking fields for scattered birds, the Rio Dove Loads deliver reliable ignition and consistent results throughout the day.
Performance and Ballistics
With a muzzle velocity of 1200 feet per second, these Rio shotshells offer a flat trajectory and reduced lead requirements on crossing targets. The 1-1/8 ounce payload of #8 shot provides approximately 460 pellets per shell, creating very dense patterns that increase the likelihood of clean harvests. The shells are loaded with clean-burning powder and high-quality wads that help maintain tight patterns while minimizing felt recoil. Hunters consistently report reliable performance and uniform patterns from box to box, making the Rio Dove Load RDL328 an excellent choice for both new and experienced dove hunters who want the benefits of a heavier payload.
