Classic 1911 Design in 9mm

The 1911 platform is one of the most iconic and enduring pistol designs in history. The Rock Island Armory 1911 GI brings that heritage into the popular 9mm caliber, offering shooters the familiar ergonomics, controls, and handling of a traditional 1911 while benefiting from the lower recoil and higher capacity of 9mm ammunition. The full-size 5-inch barrel provides excellent sight radius and velocity, making this pistol well-suited for both range use and defensive applications. The 9mm chambering makes it more shooter-friendly than traditional .45 ACP 1911s, especially for those who prefer reduced recoil during extended shooting sessions.

Premium Wood Grips

This model comes equipped with attractive wood grips that provide a classic look and comfortable feel. The wood grips offer excellent purchase and help absorb some of the recoil, making the pistol more pleasant to shoot. The natural wood finish complements the parkerized or blued steel components, giving the 1911 GI a traditional, military-inspired appearance that many enthusiasts prefer over modern polymer or rubber grips.
