Springfield Armory Prodigy 9mm 4.25" COA Optic Ready 15-Round Pistol PH9117COA

The Springfield Armory Prodigy 9mm 4.25" COA 15-Round Pistol PH9117COA is a high-performance, optics-ready 1911-style pistol that combines classic 1911 ergonomics with modern features and double-stack capacity. Chambered in 9mm Luger, this Prodigy model features a 4.25-inch barrel and comes with a 15-round magazine, offering an excellent balance of concealability, capacity, and shootability. The “COA” designation indicates that this version is equipped with Springfield’s Carry Optic Adapter system, making it ready to accept a wide variety of red dot optics right out of the box. Whether you’re a competitive shooter, a concealed carry permit holder, or a firearms enthusiast looking for a premium 1911 in 9mm, the Springfield Prodigy delivers exceptional performance, reliability, and customization potential.

The Prodigy represents Springfield Armory’s commitment to evolving the classic 1911 platform. By incorporating a double-stack magazine, optics-ready slide, and modern manufacturing techniques, Springfield has created a pistol that retains the timeless feel of a 1911 while offering the capacity and features demanded by today’s shooters.

Optics-Ready COA Slide

The standout feature of the PH9117COA model is its factory optics-ready slide equipped with the Carry Optic Adapter (COA) system. This system allows shooters to easily mount popular red dot sights without the need for custom milling or adapter plates in many cases. The COA cut is designed to provide a lower 1/3 co-witness or absolute co-witness with many optics, giving shooters faster target acquisition and improved accuracy. Whether you prefer a Trijicon RMR, Holosun, or another popular red dot, the Prodigy COA is ready to accept your choice of optic.

4.25-Inch Barrel and Double-Stack Capacity

The 4.25-inch barrel on the Prodigy provides an excellent balance between concealability and performance. It delivers good velocity and accuracy while keeping the overall length of the pistol manageable for everyday carry. Paired with the 15-round double-stack magazine, this model offers significantly higher capacity than traditional single-stack 1911s. The increased capacity makes the Prodigy well-suited for both competitive shooting and defensive applications where having more rounds available is advantageous.

Classic 1911 Ergonomics with Modern Upgrades

The Springfield Prodigy retains the legendary 1911 grip angle, trigger feel, and overall handling that shooters have trusted for over a century. At the same time, it incorporates modern enhancements such as an optics-ready slide, improved sights, and a double-stack magazine. The forged steel frame and slide provide durability and strength, while the match-grade barrel helps deliver consistent accuracy. The pistol also features an ambidextrous safety, making it suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters.
