Zoom Frog 4": Weedless Topwater Frog for Heavy Cover
The Zoom Frog 4" 3pk Black (135-038) is a highly effective soft plastic topwater frog engineered for fishing in the thickest cover. At 4 inches long, this frog offers the perfect size and profile to attract big bass while remaining easy to cast and work through heavy vegetation. The solid Black color provides a strong silhouette that bass can easily see against the water surface, making it especially effective in stained water, low-light conditions, and when fishing over dark mats.
Zoom Bait Company has long been a leader in soft plastic innovation, and the Zoom Frog continues that tradition with a realistic design and weedless construction. Its hollow body and specially designed legs create a natural kicking action that mimics a real frog struggling on the surface. The weedless design allows anglers to fish confidently through thick lily pads, matted grass, and heavy cover where other lures would constantly hang up.

Why Choose the Zoom Frog 4" Black
The Zoom Frog 4" 3pk Black (135-038) is a top choice for anglers who want to fish topwater in heavy cover. Unlike hard-bodied frogs, this soft plastic version offers a more natural feel and action that can produce more strikes, especially when bass are short-striking or when fishing in extremely thick vegetation. The Black color is one of the most effective colors for topwater frog fishing because it creates a bold silhouette that bass can track easily from below.
Zoom’s durable soft plastic material ensures the frog can withstand multiple strikes and repeated use in heavy cover. The realistic leg design produces a natural kicking action on the pause and during the retrieve, triggering aggressive reaction strikes from bass. Whether you’re walking the frog across open pockets or punching through thick mats, the Zoom Frog delivers consistent performance.

Ideal Applications for the Zoom Frog 4" Black
The Zoom Frog 4" Black is specifically designed for topwater fishing in heavy cover. It performs exceptionally well when fished over lily pads, matted grass, and thick vegetation where bass often ambush prey. The weedless design allows anglers to work the frog through dense cover without constant hang-ups, making it one of the most effective lures for “punching” mats and fishing in areas that are difficult to reach with other baits.
Many anglers use the Zoom Frog with a steady walking retrieve or by pausing it in open pockets within the vegetation. The Black color is particularly effective in stained or murky water and during low-light periods such as early morning and late evening. Its realistic profile and action make it a go-to choice when bass are actively feeding on frogs or when looking to trigger reaction strikes in heavy cover.
This lure is especially popular among tournament bass anglers, topwater specialists, and fishermen who target thick vegetation and matted grass.
